NumbAid

A Somatosensory loss indicator

Design Challenge

Propose, design and build a physical interactive device that solves a design problem around helping a disabled person to better cope with their environment.

Design Problem

To make people aware of not having the ability to sense the touch and prevent them from physical injuries or risks is a difficult task.

Solution

The Numb Aid comprises the feature of measuring the sense of touch using ESP32 GPIO capacitive touch sensor pins.

The second feature includes the display of the status of LED where, LED remains "on" when the object( containing the system) comes in contact with the body, it changes to "off" when there is no contact in between.

The user or his loved ones can monitor the status of the LED accessing the webserver URL within the network to which the system is connected and prevent unavoidable accidents and damages by taking the necessary actions quickly.

Future Scope

The next aim of the NumbAid design solution is to give the notifications using mobile in future. Also, the smaller size of the instrument will be encouraged.
